Automakers Pushing To Shorten EV Development Times DEVELOPMENT TIMES VARY BY STRATEGY ARCHETYPE Shorter vehicle development times provide many advantages: Battery and BEV technology is changing rapidly and OEMs need to be able to make rapid changes, e.g. switch to a new battery in the middle of a program life cycle. Chinese and new EV players set the benchmark for development times: typically one year shorter, and less than half if using an off-the-shelf (OTS) pack solution.
