Heavy Mobility Market Developments - Market Size & Demand Growth
Global electric truck and bus production (>6t GVW) is estimated to have increased 130,000 units in 2025 to nearly 300,000 vehicles, up from from 163,000 units in 2024 and just 90,000 in 2023. Total production increased to 3.6m units, giving BEV a 8.8% of the total, up from 4.7% in 2024. China accounted for the majority of volume and growth, increasing by 128,000 units, 89% in 2025. Stringent CO2 and GHG legislation in Europe, US and China, alongside falling TCO for heavy EVs, will see over 717,000 BEV units produced in 2030. Total battery demand in 2024 is estimated at 96 GWh, up from 24 GWh in 2023, excluding spares for swappable batteries swapping in China.
