Committed Projects Anticipate LDES Growth to 3% of BESS by 2029 from 0.1% in 2025 LDES PROJECT PIPELINE BY OPERATIONAL DATE Operational Capacity (GW)

0.5GW/4.4GWh of LDES projects are operational outside of China (0.1% by power). Only 91MW/563MWh of that capacity has been installed since 1991, of which 35MW/300MWh came online in 2025 (>14× 2024 additions). 8-hour lithium-ion projects comprise 78% of the project pipeline projections for 2030. However, most LDES policies are technology agnostic and heavily weight bid price and deliverability.

Policies in California and Ontario, Canada, exclude lithium-ion and could enable early deployments of emerging technologies that reduce tech risk and bring down cost
