BESS Safety Regulations and Standards BESS & Battery Standards in Use Standards are not mandatory unless they are adopted by regulatory framework [local, state, national levels]. While standards are not legally binding, they are widely adopted because they help ensure quality, compatibility, and safety - and they often support compliance with regulations. Important to highlight: current level of battery standards [even for major applications as BESS] represent the bare minimum of what is required to ensure the battery system reliability & safety. A good battery system design will always consider requirements beyond standards to ensure its performance and safe operation.
