Starting an Era of Open-Source Battery Data and Tools
BATTERY ELECTOCHEMICAL DATA SETS PUBLISHED PER YEAR
More and more open-source data sets, tools, codebases, and collections are being published every year as the global push to make FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data and code available for scientific research continues to grow.
Collating all easily discoverable battery data, analysis, and code resources published through 2025 results in a collection of:
Battery data from 7,040 distinct battery cells and millions of cycles 4 imaging and tomography libraries for 2D and 3D microstructural data 7 safety and thermal runaway entries including 2 databases 21 battery modeling codebases for simulating battery electrical, thermal, and aging behavior from electrode-scale to macro-scale 23 battery data analysis codebases for processing, plotting, model fitting, and machine-learning feature extraction of raw battery test data
CUMULATIVE UNIQUE BATTERIES IN OPEN-SOURCE DATA SETS
