Strategies Enabling Li-rich Sulfur Cathodes in ASSLSBs Traditional Li-S batteries consist of an S8:C composite cathode, liquid electrolyte and separator, and a lithium metal anode. Soluble intermediate cathode discharge products as well as dendrite growth are two operational roadblocks which all solid state lithium sulfur batteries may (ASSLSBs) solve. However, ASSLSBs cathodes, typically Li2S, still have sluggish kinetics and poor electronic conductivity. SnS2 Additive for Improved Electronic Conductivity
Interfacial Redox Mediator for ASSLSBs +
LiVS2 core-shell cathode composites facilitates both electron and Li transport, improving the typically sluggish kinetics of Li2S reactions. Cells achieved 5.3 mAh/cm2 at a S mass loading of 10 mg/cm2. [1]
Recent work showed that low amounts of SnS2 as an additive helps catalyze conversion to Li2S during charge while also improving electronic conductivity in coin cells. [2]
Compositing metal materials into Li-rich sulfur cathodes improves discharge kinetics, cycle life, and electronic conductivity in ASSLSBs
