Skills & Training Gaps

Students’ Career Aspirations Remain Heavily Concentrated in Research and R&D Roles Students overwhelmingly cite research-focused positions, such as research scientist and R&D engineer, as their ideal post-graduation roles.

AFTER YOU GRADUATE, WHAT WOULD BE YOUR IDEAL JOB TITLE?

In contrast, few students express interest in manufacturing, process engineering, or equipment-focused roles, even though these positions represent some of the most acute talent needs across the battery value chain.

This concentration of student interest highlights a persistent gap between student career expectations and the roles most critical to industry scale-up. Source: Battery Talent Census
